Quartet representative Tony Blair said Wednesday that the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas is a man of peace and a major player and partner in the peace process “that, we hope, will move forward during the next few weeks”.         

Abbas responded, in a statement released by his office: “We all strongly support his efforts and commitment to peace and to the establishment of the esteemed Palestinian state; he is honest and serious in his efforts and quest for peace”.
