Patriarch Hazim: We will remain strong and fight foreign interventon
Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Greek Orthodox Ignatius IV Hazim rejected foreign claims that Christians in Syria are oppressed, adding "Christians in Syria live in peace, but they only fear the international calls for protecting them."

Hazim, during a speech to the Syrian TV broadcast on Saturday, rejected voices which call for a foreign intervention, asserting the national unity and supporting the reform program led by President Bashar al-Assad. He underlined that the Syrian people fight will continue against all foreign intervention, adding that coexistence is not a new thing in Syria, but it is part of the Syrian history.

"Whenever I meet foreign delegations, I tell them that what is going on in Syria is an odd event that might happen in any country and that visitors of Syria have to see and inspect the real events here," Patriarch Hazim said.
