US embassy: Desrocher visited Lebanon, held talks on maritime borders mediation efforts

The US embassy in Lebanon issued on Wednesday a statement in which it said that US ambassador John Desrocher, visited today Lebanon and held bilateral talks with President Michel Aoun, Lebanese Army Commander Major General Jospeh Aoun and Brigadier General Pilot Bassam Yassin, in addition to members of the Lebanese delegation.

Talks came within the framework of the ongoing mediation efforts deployed by Ambassador Desrocher regarding the demarcation of the Lebanese-Israeli maritime borders.

The embassy added that the discussions “were fruitful and allowed for a frank exchange of views on the needed steps to reach a long-awaited agreement that would benefit both parties.”
