France urges calm in Lebanon, focus on reforms
France called on all parties in Lebanon on Friday to stay calm after the bloodiest street violence the country has witnessed in over a decade, urging all sides to focus on implementing reforms to get out of an escalating crisis.
 
"France calls for calm on all sides concerned. The priority now must go to implementing the urgent and necessary reforms to enable Lebanon to emerge from the crisis, especially in the energy sector," foreign ministry spokeswoman Anne-Claire Legendre told reporters in a daily briefing.
