Greece announced that it would deliver to the United States an Iranian oil cargo that was on board the "Lana" oil tanker, seized by the Greek authorities in mid-April at the request of the American judiciary, in a decision that Tehran quickly denounced.
On April 19, the Greek authorities seized off the island of Evia a Russian oil tanker called Pegas (name changed later to Lana), in implementation of the sanctions issued by the European Union against the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
It was reported that the tanker was carrying 115,000 tons of Iranian oil.
