The daughter of a well-known Russian writer, Alexander Dugin, was killed in a car explosion in the Moscow region on Saturday evening, according to a statement released today by the Russian Investigative Committee.

According to the statement, Daria Dugin, a journalist and political analyst, was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser when it exploded before catching fire on a highway near the village of Bolshey Vyaziumi, 40 kilometers from Moscow.

According to investigators, an explosive device was planted in the car.

According to family members, writer Alexander Dugin was the target of the explosion, and Daria had borrowed her father's car for transportation this time.

Some believe Dugin is close to and the mastermind behind Russian President Vladimir Putin.
