Iran military spokesman says forces targeted tanker in Gulf

An Iranian military spokesman said Friday that forces targeted what he described as a U.S.-owned oil tanker in the Gulf and that it was now "burning."

"An oil tanker vessel owned by the United States near the borders of Kuwait has been targeted and is burning," said Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for the military's central headquarters, according to state TV.
