Lapid says Lebanon “recognizes” Israel in maritime border deal

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid considered on Thursday that Lebanon "recognized" the State of Israel by agreeing to an agreement on the demarcation of its maritime borders with the Jewish state, with US mediation.

Lapid’s comments were made at the start of the cabinet meeting to approve the agreement.

"This is a political achievement. Not every day an enemy country recognizes the State of Israel in a written agreement before the entire international community," he added.
