Qatar's Tamim bin Hamad, UAE's Mohammed bin Zayed reconcile ties
Welcoming his brother, as he put it, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, accompanied the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his car.

It is the first visit of the President of the UAE to Qatar since his country and Saudi Arabia, along with Egypt and Bahrain, severed diplomatic and economic relations with Doha in 2017 on the pretext that the latter supports extremists and is close to Iran.

If it indicates anything, this visit suggests that the relations between the two countries are slowly returning on the right track.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern, the foremost of which are ways to support security and stability in the region. In addition, it was a study of ways to strengthen brotherly relations and joint Gulf action.

This was also confirmed by the diplomatic advisor to the Emirati President, Anwar Gargash, in a tweet on Twitter.

The timing of the meeting indeed coincided with the course of the World Cup in Qatar, as the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ziyad Al Nahyan, praised it.

The Wall Street Journal has considered that the visit is another sign of regional warmth and an attempt to clear up the problems between the countries of the region, adding that since the spread of COVID-19, the UAE has been trying to draw a less confrontational stance with its surroundings, and move to reform regional relations with Iran and Turkey, "Qatar's two allies."

With the visit of the President of the UAE to Doha, a page of the past has been turned, leaving Bahrain to remain the only country that has not reconciled relations with Qatar. So will the winds of reconciliation reach Manama soon?
