This Christmas ... Let Us Give The Gift Of Life
It's Finally Christmas time. A time most of us anxiously wait for from one season to another.
A time of cuddles and warmth. Of union and festivities but sadly also a time to celebrate what we have come to love the most : Consumerism.

Yep. We've all started thinking about the best gifts for this friend and that relative as the shopping centers are getting more crowded and the roads more monstrous by the day!

But hey, remember this

I kind of agree with the dude, so i say this year we make the season count and i hope you'll take the following idea into consideration.

Lebanon is one horrific place for animals, especially during winter as hundreds, even thousands of homeless animals die of hunger, cold or worse.
Luckily for them, the existence of animal welfare associations is slowly but steadily changing that reality.

So here's the deal:
Instead of buying 10 to 20 $ gift items for friends and relatives, make a donation on their behalf! Isn't it the greatest gift of all to know you have brought joy to a helpless creature?

Since i have the gift of foresight (totally kidding!) i can see that some of you are already thinking that hundreds of people are also living in poverty and sickness. Why not help them? Well it's simple. I have a week spot for little furry creatures; They just break my heart!

I also think that during the holidays, churches and associations as well as countless individuals already donate to less fortunate families and i am not suggesting we stop that! We should even keep sharing with fellow humans all year long. All i am saying is let's replace the wrapped gifts with a love-wrapped gesture.

Call me crazy but i personally do not think that human life is more valuable than an animal's life... it's just life in different shapes and forms. So why not cherish every life equally?

Steps:

- Choose your animal(s) you will find heartbreaking cases on BETA's page
- Make a donation, as small as it might be, in the name of a friend or family member.
- Post/tweet a pic of the animal in question with a thank you note to that friend or family member.
- Optional: Make a thank you card to be hanged on their tree on Christmas eve.

I will be starting the process myself, so you can follow me on Twitter for updates!
