REPORT: Salameh to LBCI: BDL seeking to maintain stability of LBP exchange rate

The governor of Banque du Liban (BDL) Riad Salameh stressed on Monday that the financial stability in Lebanon is due to many factors summarized by the professionalism of the banking sector, noting that BDL has taken all the necessary measures to maintain the stability of the Lebanese Lira's exchange rate.

Salameh said that Lebanon’s growth rate indicators and bank deposits are positive, pointing out that the negative effects of the Syrian crisis that hit the financial sector have been treated.

In this context, the BDL governor said that the international institutions have not downgraded the credit rating for Lebanon, explaining that some institutions have negative predictions due to the deteriorating security and political situation.
