REPORT: Hamas leader in Lebanon denies LAF request to hand over 2 person accused of rocket attacks

Hamas leader in Lebanon Ali Baraka denied on Wednesday via LBCI that the Lebanese Armed Forces had asked him to hand over two persons accused of firing rockets on Beirut’s Southern Suburbs.          

Baraka reiterated Hamas’ keenness on Lebanon's stability, expressing the party’s readiness to cooperate with the LAF Intelligence Bureau to maintain the country’s security.           

This as, sources told LBCI that the LAF had officially requested from a senior official at the Hamas Movement to hand over to authorities an official at the Rashidieh Camp known as Alaa-Eddine Yassine on suspicion of firing rockets on Beirut’s Southern Suburbs.                   

The LAF also asked from the Hamas official to hand over Mahmoud Tah (born in 1983) on suspicion of involvement in the same incident.   
                                              
Two rockets hit Beirut’s southern suburb on Sunday [May 26th] wounding several people, including Syrian nationals. One of the rockets landed in a car sales yard next to a busy road junction in the Chiyah neighborhood while the other hit an apartment several hundred meters away.                                  

The rockets launchers were later found in the hills located between Bsaba and Aitat in Mount Lebanon.                                 

There was no immediate claim of responsibility while the army launched investigations to reveal who was behind the attack.
