REPORT: ISIS, most powerful Islamic organization fighting in Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared in April 2013 the establishment of the Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham (Syria), also known as ISIS, at the same time calling for merging his organization with al-Qaeda-affiliated group Jabhat al-Nusra.

However, al-Baghdadi’s call was not welcomed by al-Nusra leader Abou Mohammad al-Joulani who refused to merge the two groups.

Accordingly, the relations between the two organizations began witnessing tensions.
