REPORT: US says charity officials were funding al-Qaeda

The Washington Post reported on Monday that Qatar’s royal family turned to a well-regarded professor named Abd al-Rahman al-Nu’aymi in a bid to take on charitable giving.

However, US officials noted that al-Nu’aymi was working secretly as a financier for al-Qaeda and was sending millions of dollars to terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq.
