REPORT: Son of businessman kidnapped in Lebanon's Zahle
9-year-old child Michel Saqr, the son of businessman Ibrahim Saqr, was kidnapped on Friday morning in the eastern city of Zahle, the state-run National News Agency reported.        

In the details, Michel was en route to school with the family's driver when four masked gunmen in a Grand Cherokee SUV abducted him.          

The Grand Cherokee intercepted Saqr's Kia vehicle, pointed a gun at the driver before taking Michel to an unknown destination.           

Subsequently, Bekaa General Prosecutor Farid Kallas inspected the location where child Michel Saqr was kidnapped and issued a search warrant for the perpetrators.

This comes as a number of citizens blocked Zahle highway with burning tires to protest the kidnapping of Saqr. 

Reactions:

Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouq telephoned Ibrahim Saqr and told him that all security apparatuses are on high alert and started to take all necessary measures in order to release the abducted child.      

For his part, Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk called for an emergency meeting for all security apparatuses, in coordination with the Lebanese army.        

This comes as Ferzol, Zahle and Bekaa Bishop Issam Youhanna Darwish called for a meeting to be held on Friday afternoon at 2:30 to protest the abduction of Michel Saqr.
