REPORT: New victim of domestic violence: pregnant woman shot dead by husband

KAFA (enough) Violence & Exploitation activists held on Tuesday a press conference, whereby they called on Speaker Nabih Berri to dedicate a legislative session in order to pass the law protecting women from domestic violence, while taking into consideration the remarks presented by the organization regarding the draft law.

The conference came after 24-year-old Rouqaiah Mounzer fell victim to domestic violence in the region of Bourj al-Barajneh.

According to the victim’s sister, who attended the conference, Rouqaiah was shot dead by her husband, after she repeatedly asked for divorce “because her husband used to beat her in front of her children.” She added that her sister was pregnant.
