REPORT: Al-Husseini to LBCI: President to be elected by two thirds, not half plus one
On April 23rd, Speaker Nabih Berri ended the first round of the presidential elections and closed the minutes of the first parliamentary session, calling for a new session to hold the second round of the voting, but quorum failed to be reached and the session was adjourned.

However, former Speaker Hussein al-Husseini said that this declaration contains a confusion and an error, stressing that in case a quorum was reached, the parliament would have opened an electoral session to hold the first round of voting again.

He explained that the presidential elections should have been held from the beginning with two thirds of the votes needed to elect a president.
