REPORT: Tourism Minister Pharaon Says Saudi Arabia has lifted its travel ban against Lebanon

Minister of Tourism Michel Pharaon told LBCI on Wednesday that the security situation in Lebanon permits foreign and Arab tourists to visit the country.

He also noted that Saudi Arabia gave "the green light" for its nationals to travel to the country.

On Tuesday, sources told LBCI that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to lift its Lebanon travel ban at the end of this month.

Last Wednesday, Minister Pharaon said Gulf Arab states will scrap by the end of the month a travel warning for citizens considering Lebanon for a destination, in a sign of improving relations with the new Lebanese government.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) - Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates - once provided the bulk of Lebanon's tourism revenue but last June warned citizens against visiting as Syria's civil war fueled sectarian violence in its smaller neighbor.
