REPORT: Future bloc, March 14 forces adamant on raising VAT to fund pay scale

The Future bloc and the March 14 forces are adamant on raising the VAT from 10 to 11 percent "so that the required revenues could be secured in order to fund the series of ranks and salaries".

Nonetheless, lawmakers have managed to strike a balance between revenues and expenditures without raising the VAT, as it was revealed during a meeting held at the office of Speaker Nabih Berri on the eve of today's legislative session.
