REPORT: Body of Lebanese businessman George Obegi found in the Cypriot territorial waters
The family of Lebanese businessman George Obegi stated on Thursday that the latter’s body was found in the Cypriot territorial waters after his plane crashed while en route to Beirut.

Contacts were lost on Wednesday with Obegi’s Diamond DA42 plane while en route from Cyrus to Beirut; 26 miles away from the Lebanese coast.

Obegi (47) was on board of the plane along with his Cypriot trainer Avgustinos Avgostin.

It is worth noting that George Obegi is the grandson of Yordan Obegi from Aleppo who started introducing chemical dyestuffs to the textile and leather industries in Syria, Lebanon, southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq.

Yordan came to Lebanon along with his children Bechara (the father of Yordan, Riad, and George) and Henry Obegi who carried on their father's legacy.

Late pilot George Obagi holds several leading positions within the Obegi Group of companies, including Obegi Consumer Products Holding (Chairman-CEO), Unifert Holding (Chairman-CEO) and Obegi Chemicals Group (Board Member).
