REPORT: Bassam Nabouch’s confessions unveiled network of suicide bombers
Sources told LBCI on Friday that the confessions of Bassam Houssam al-Nabouch, who was arrested Thursday by the Lebanese army, have unveiled a network of suicide bombers, some of whom were in contact with fugitive militant Chadi al-Mawlawi.

“The network of suicide bombers included Tah al-Khayal and Bilal al-Mariyan who blew themselves up in an attack on Tripoli’s Jabal Mohsen on Saturday,” the sources said.

“The army arrested the members of the network, including Elie al-Warrak who converted to Islam almost two months ago,” the same sources noted.

They added that a manhunt is still ongoing for a suspected would-be suicide bomber, saying “the Lebanese Army Intelligence is still holding investigations with the network’s members”.

The Lebanese Armed Forces Intelligence Directorate thwarted on Thursday an attempt to carry out another suicide attack following the Jabal Mohsen twin suicide bombings.

The Directorate said it arrested Bassam Houssam al-Nabouch, Elie Toni al-Warrak (aka Abou Ali) and Syrian national Mouhanad Ali Mohammad Abdel Kader who were all preparing to carry out terrorist operations targeting Lebanese army posts and residential blocs.

Last Saturday, a double suicide attack struck a coffee shop in Tripoli’s predominantly Alawite neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen, killing nine people and wounding 36 others.
