Health Minister Wael Abou Faour accepted Wednesday the resignation of the head of the president of the administration board of Beirut governmental hospital Faisal Chatila.
Abou Faour declared that Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil vowed to allocate an amount of funds to pay the salaries of the employees on Thursday.
“With Chatila’s resignation we can say that the rescue plan has just started,” he told LBCI.
The employees of Beirut governmental hospital had declared earlier that they will continue their sit-in until the file pertaining to the hospital’s issues is added to the cabinet’s agenda, along with a feasible plan of action to be referred to the Council of Development and Reconstruction under the supervision of the concerned ministries.
In a press conference, the protesters called for reconstructing the infrastructure of the facility’s building and responding to the list of primary demands that includes the need to grant all the employees permanent tenure.
In this regard, the employees held the hospital’s administration and the Health Ministry responsible for their situation.
The Beirut Hospital employees have been staging sit-ins to protest against the concerned authorities’ negligence toward “the medical facility, which is on the verge of collapse.”
