REPORT: Ibrahim al-Masri, the Lebanese cook who turned into a suicide bomber in Iraq

21-year-old Ibrahim al-Masri is a hospitality management student from Tripoli who left Lebanon on the 25th of November 2014 and implemented a suicide attack in Iraq on the 7th of January 2015, after joining the Islamic State.

His mother Nada, who finally decided to break the silence, said that her son’s social situation is the reason behind his decision to head for Iraq, blaming the Lebanese state.

She added that her three sons, including Ibrahim, attempted to join the Lebanese security forces and the Lebanese army but in vain, stressing that her family is not extremist.
