The Lebanese Armed Forces Command declared Friday that it referred to the concerned judiciary one of the most dangerous terrorist detainees, identified as Syrian national Hassan Ghourli (known as Abou Hareth al-Ansari), who belongs to a terrorist organization.
The army command issued a statement in this regard, whereby it said that “Ghourli was arrested on the 2nd of March 2015 for being involved in the attacks carried out against army bases in the mountainous regions of Arsal in August of last year, as well as in the attack implemented in Tallet al-Hamra in Ras Baalbek on the 23rd of February 2015, where the detainee was injured.”
According to the statement, the detainee confessed during the interrogations to have participated in military drills conducted by terrorist organizations, and taken part in battles led by an armed group that pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in 2014.”
During the interrogations, Ghourli also confessed to have guarded the Lebanese soldiers kidnapped by the Islamic State, and witnessed the execution of martyr Ali al-Ali.
He also revealed the identity of the terrorist who executed the army martyrs Ali al-Sayyed and Abbas Medlej, as well as other information concerning the work mechanism of the terrorist groups and their leaders.
