REPORT: Iran’s Velayati: We are proud of the Resistance’s achievements in Qalamoum
Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior adviser for foreign affairs to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on Monday that his country “is proud of the Resistance’s achievements, alongside the Syrian regime, in [Syria’s] Qalamoun”.
 
Velayati arrived Monday in the Lebanese capital Beirut, coming from Tehran on an official visit, the state-run National News Agency reported.
 
“Iran is pleased that the political leaderships managed to safeguard national unity and move forward in standing against Israel and takfiri groups,” the Iranian official said following his meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri.
 
Asked about Yemen, Velayati said “dialogue shall be held between Yemeni parties only in a bid to resolve the crisis”.
 
Asked about the Lebanese situation earlier on Monday, Velayati said “solving Lebanon's outstanding issues is something that concerns the Lebanese only”.
 
“We are confident that, thanks to Lebanon's democracy, the country will find the right exits that lead to filling the current power vacuum,” he concluded.
