REPORT: Perpetrators of torture in Roumieh jail referred to investigation
A source at the Internal Security Forces vowed on Sunday to take strict measures against all those who participated in the beating and torturing of some inmates at Roumieh prison.    
 
“Members responsible for this act were referred to investigations under the State Prosecution to put things into perspective and bring the abusers to military justice,” the source said.      
 
The same source added that the perpetrators of this act will be incarcerated in the same prison cell where they tortured inmates “to set an example for others”.      
 
Also on Sunday, Lebanon’s Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi said he called State Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud and asked him to probe “what was published on social media websites regarding the 'brutal and barbaric torture'”.                 
 
Minister Rifi urged the need to identify and punish the perpetrators as well as all those involved in the crime.
