President Michel Aoun met on Monday with Iran's parliament speaker Ali Larijani on top of an Iranian delegation at the Baabda Presidential Palace.
Larijani conveyed to Aoun a letter from Iran President Hassan Rouhani on the Lebanese-Iranian relations.
Larijani then met with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh.

Following the meeting, Berri stressed that “strength lies in unity and there is no other choice for the Lebanese people and the people of the region but to resort to the approach of unity, convergence and dialogue.”

Larijani then left Ain el-ineh without giving any statement.
He also met with Prime Minister Hassan Diab at the Grand Serail.
The Iranian official also held a meeting with Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah with talks focusing on the Lebanese-Iranian ties.

Larijani then held a press conference at the Iranian embassy in Beirut whereby he said that Lebanon is going through a critical phase, voicing hopes that the new Cabinet led by Prime Minister Hassan Diab be able to overcome all difficulties.
“We are totally prepared to cooperate with the Lebanese government in all fields,” Larijani said.
Asked whether any Iranian support would halt any support from the west, the Iranian official said that “Iran does not oblige anyone to do so.”
