PM Mikati: We are committed not to interfere in judicial affairs-[REPORT]
Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed on Saturday after a cabinet session that “they are not convening to protect any sector per se, but rather their purpose is to preserve balances in the country,” reiterating “their commitment not to interfere in judicial affairs, out of respect for the principle of separation of powers.”
 
Mikati then pointed out that they are keen on the judiciary’s independence and that, based on the principle of cooperation and balance between them, they have urged the application of the law without discrimination and according to each’s competence to protect everyone’s rights, particularly depositors' rights.
 
“The Council of Ministers agreed to address the judicial issue in accordance with the laws in force,” Mikati stated, saying that “they confirmed the authority to assign the Minister of Justice to develop a vision to address the judicial situation.”
