REPORT: 9-year-old Lebanese girl wins first prize for anti-smoking campaign

Nine-year-old girl Christine al-Mehtar wrote a story concerning an anti-smoking campaign in Lebanon, allowing her to win the first prize at a competition organized by the “Green Hand Organization”, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).

The competition limited the age range of the participants between 8 and 14 years, in order to raise awareness against the dangerous effects of smoking, given that 59.2% of the Lebanese people aged between 13 and 15 years have tried at least once to smoke cigarettes or Arguileh; while 6.68% of this proportion is a victim of second-hand smoking.
