President Aoun says Eid al-Adha’s message is to protect lives, calls for unity amid Lebanon’s challenges

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun extended Eid al-Adha greetings to the Lebanese people, particularly Muslims, expressing hope that the holiday would bring reassurance, hope, and better days for Lebanon and its people.

Aoun said one of the meanings embodied by Eid al-Adha is that it represents a shared concept across all monotheistic religions. “Its highest meaning remains that God wanted us, through this experience, to learn not to sacrifice our children or shed their blood, but rather to protect them and create life for them,” he said.

He added that the values of love, solidarity, and unity associated with the holiday are especially needed today amid the difficult circumstances and challenges facing Lebanon, particularly due to ongoing Israeli attacks and the resulting casualties, injuries, and displacement that have deprived many families of the joy of Eid.

Aoun said he hoped the occasion would serve as an opportunity to strengthen national unity and uphold the values of solidarity, responsibility, and compassion, while reaffirming faith in Lebanon’s ability to overcome crises and build a better future.

He concluded by wishing Lebanon security, stability, and peace, and extended blessings and prosperity to all Lebanese.
