REPORT: Capture of Syria’s al-Qusayr shifts balance of power in Assad's favor

Syria’s al-Qusayr is undoubtedly a strategically important town that was captured today (Wednesday) by the Syrian regime forces alongside Hezbollah fighters after being controlled by rebels for a year and a half.

The capture of the town of al-Qusayr, which is close to the Lebanese border, strengthens some of the regime's recent gains on the ground, shifting the balance of power in Assad's favor in the long simmering Syrian civil war.

This report will shed light on the importance of Syria’s al-Qusayr and will examine the key role of Hezbollah in the raging battles in Syria.
