Sources told
Al-Akhbar newspaper on Tuesday that the Lebanese security apparatuses obtained new information pertaining to the Daraya explosion.
Sources added that the Lebanese Armed Forces Intelligence Branch are currently interrogating the Syrian national who survived the bomb explosion, while Mohammad Ahmada Al-Dakhakhni succumbed to his wounds.
As well, the Daily also noted that the Daraya municipality denied media outlets reports saying that Al-Dakhakhni is the Imam of the Daraya mosque.
According to the Daily, the security forces found two other bombs ready to be set inside the same house in the Daraya region.
National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt told
As-Safir newspaper on Tuesday that his bloc is studying possible solutions to spare Lebanon the current impasse.
He also told the Daily that he supports the formation of a "neutral government" to deal with the country's social and economic pending issues.
Sources close to Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Rai told
Al-Joumhouria newspaper on Tuesday that the Patriarch did not mean to launch an attack against the Lebanese Christian leaders.
Sources added that Patriarch Rai intended in his last speech to warn Christians against the Shiite-Sunnite conflict in the region, urging them to unite to safeguard their presence in the Middle East.
According to the Daily, Patriarch Rai noted that Western countries are not exerting "sufficient" efforts to address the concerns of the Christians in the region.
British Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher told
As-Safir newspaper on Tuesday that the European Union's decision against Hezbollah targets "specific persons", noting that the decision does not intend to undermine the Shiite sect in Lebanon.
Ambassador Fletcher reiterated his country's commitment to Lebanon's stability and unity, denying media reports stating plots against the Lebanese state on the part of his country.
He also condemned the launching of rockets at Yarzeh, saying that such acts aim at raising tensions and disputes in the country.
President Michel Sleiman's adviser, former Minister Khalil Herawi told
An-Nahar newspaper on Tuesday that President Sleiman held talks with Iran's newly elected President Hassan Rouhani over regional conflicts during his one-day visit to Iran.
He also revealed to the Daily that President Sleiman expressed to President Rouhani his regrets that regional conflicts have turned into "pure sectarian disputes."
Former Minister Herawi also noted that President Sleiman wished from President Rouhani to exert efforts to achieve an Iranian-Saudi rapprochement which will have a "positive outcome on the entire region."
