Visitors of Speaker Nabih Berri quoted him as saying on Wednesday that the raids carried out in the Roumieh prison are the very first results of the dialogue held between Hezbollah and the Future Movement.
The same sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper that he asserted that such raids required a political decision from both parties, adding that the security plan will also be implemented in the Bekaa region.
He also noted that the third round of dialogue will be held next Friday, adding that without the ongoing dialogue the Jabal Mohsen attack would have formed the first spark of a new round of violence in the northern city of Tripoli.
Minister of Interior Nohad Machnouq told As-Safir newspaper on Wednesday that the Central Security Council tackled during Tuesday’s meeting the security measures that will be implemented in the Bekaa region.
He also noted that all political powers agreed on this issue, adding that the measures will be implemented soon.
On another note, Machnouq stressed that the raids and the inspection at the Roumieh prison would take days, adding that the rehabilitation process of the prison will start in ten days and is expected to be done over the span of three months.
Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt told As-Safir newspaper on Wednesday that the Lebanese authorities should deploy their efforts to establish security and stability in the Bekaa region.
Jumblatt also noted that dealing with the situation in the Bekaa should also touch on the growth and development of the region.
On another note, Jumblatt reiterated the need to legalize the cultivation of Hashish in the country, adding that “the theory of alternative crops failed.”
He also hailed the raids carried out in the Roumieh prison, stressing however that "the fight against terrorism will be long."
Hezbollah's Deputy Head Sheikh Naim Qassem told al-Joumhouria newspaper on Wednesday that the presidential elections will not be held soon.
On another note, Qassem stressed that the dialogue between Hezbollah and the Future Movement established a new phase of stability in the country.
He concluded by saying that all parties reject the terrorism imposed by Takfiri groups in the region.
Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned on Wednesday Israel that his party is in possession of all types of weapons.
“We have all sorts of arms that could come to your mind,” Nasrallah said in an interview which hasn't been aired yet.
“The resistance in Lebanon has everything the enemy can imagine and not imagine,” he asserted.
