Sources told Acharq al-Awsat newspaper on Tuesday that Hezbollah and Iran are now “clearly present” in the Syrian province of Soueida.
The sources added that Hezbollah and Iran are carrying out military training for Druze armed groups to fight extremists.
According to the daily, the training started last week when fierce battles erupted between the al-Nusra Front's fighters and the “National Defense Forces.”
Sources told An-Nahar newspaper on Tuesday that Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai will call on the ambassadors of the five permanent United Nations Security Council members to meet in Bkerke.
The permanent members are the United States, China, Russia, Britain and France.
The same sources added that the meeting will tackle ways to break the deadlock over the presidential elections.
Military sources told As-Safir newspaper on Tuesday that Jordan’s King Abdullah II said to the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Jean Kahwagi that Lebanon and Jordan “are suffering from the same terrorism.”
“We will fight terrorism with all our strength and potentials,” King Abdullah II added.
Sources told As-Safir newspaper on Tuesday that the Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal reportedly reiterated to the Future Movement leader Saad Hariri his rejection to allow Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun to "reach the Baabda Palace".
The same sources added that Faisal's comments were made during a meeting with Hariri in the presence of Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.
According to the daily, Hariri warned during the meeting from the repercussions of the presidential vacuum and its impact on Lebanon's security and stability.
