Academy Awards shortlists Lebanese film Warsha
The 95th Academy Awards, also knowns as the Oscars, announced shortlisted works in 10 categories, namely Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound, and Visual Effects.

Among 15 films selected, the Lebanese short film Warsha advanced for the “Live Action Short Film” category.

Directed by Lebanese Dania Bdeir, Warsha stars Mohammad Khansa, who plays the role of a crane operator working in Beirut.

One day, he volunteers to shift on one of the most dangerous cranes in the country, where he expresses his secret passion away from people’s eyes.

After it premiered in January 2022 at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the jury prize for Best International Fiction, Bdeir’s short film has won more than 80 Awards and was screened in more than 60 countries.

The nominations for the 95th Academy Awards will be announced on January 24, 2023, and the Oscars ceremony will be held on March 12, 2023, at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
