MIT Technology Review selects two Lebanese among its "Innovators Under 35 MENA"

MIT Technology Review Arabia announced the winners of its 5th edition of the "Innovators Under 35 MENA" (IU35) Award, aiming at honoring the leading innovators whose inventions or research promote change.

 

With the help of a committee of 22 distinguished judges, the panel selected 15 innovators, among which two Lebanese were elected. Here are the details:

 

· Asmaa Abdallah is a Lebanese KSA resident. As a postdoctoral fellow at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Abdallah focuses on applied machine learning to wireless systems, which helps expand wireless systems while reducing costs and increasing network coverage in areas with connectivity issues.

 

· Hilda Ghadieh is a Lebanese assistant professor at the University of Balamand who conducted considerable research which clarified the underlying pathogen mechanisms that lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

 

Ghadieh is also seeking to launch a drug approved by the US Food and Drug Administration designed to help NAFLD.

 

Launched in 1999, the MIT Technology Review has been organizing its MENA IU35 Award since 2018. The award lists the world's most prominent innovators under the age of thirty-five and aims at recognizing young male and female innovators who presented interesting inventions and studies.
