France Armed Forces minister to spend NYE with French peacekeepers in Lebanon
The French Armed Forces Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, announced that he would spend New Year's Eve with French peacekeepers stationed in Southern Lebanon.

The trip by Lecornu comes just a few days after Seán Rooney, an Irish soldier in the UN peacekeeping force, was shot dead in the village of Al-Aqbiya on December 14, 2022.

During his trip to Lebanon, Sébastien Lecornu will also visit the Beirut Port explosion site, "where our soldiers and the Lebanese Army cooperated closely," the French Armed Forces Minister stated.

Additionally, with 658 personnel, the French contingent is one of the largest in the mission tasked with supervising peace in the country's south.
