Zebari: Outcome of Syrian crisis will affect Iraq

Iraqi foreign ministry announced today that foreign minister Hoshiar Zebari called the Arab League to give a chance for a fact-finding in the events taking place in Syria.

The announcement was disclosed after taking the decision of the Arab League to suspend Syrian membership with Iraqi abstention. The statement, published in its electronic site, added that Zebari intervened to give the fact-finding committee a chance for more investigations.

The fact-finding committee is to be formed by the Arab League and a number of international organizations to investigate the matter before adopting the freezing resolution.

The statement added that Zebari warned against "foreign intervention", pointing out that the suspension resolution needed an Arab consensus, according to the Arab League Statute.
