Turkish leader warns Assad not to be a leader "who feeds on blood"

Turkey no longer has confidence in the Syrian regime, its prime minister said on Tuesday, warning Syrian President Bashar Assad to note the "tragic ends" of other leaders who have oppressed their people.

"History will mark these leaders as the leaders who feed on blood," he said in an address to members of his AK party. Erdogan said he did not expect that Assad's regime would "meet all the demands of the (Syrian) people and the international community, because he has always been deceptive."

Turkey on Tuesday cancelled plans for oil exploration in Syria, while also threatening to cut electricity supplies after a spate of attacks by Assad's supporters on its diplomatic missions.
