Bouteflika returns to Algeria from treatment in France

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been in a  French hospital since suffering a stroke in April, returned home on Tuesday, the presidency said.

Bouteflika "will continue a period of rest and rehabilitation", said a statement carried by the official APS news agency.

It did not say whether Bouteflika would resume official duties soon. No footage was immediately shown on state television.

Earlier, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been in a  French hospital since April, left France to return to Algeria, an airport source said.

"The plane left at 13h29 from the Bourget airport," the source said, declining to give further details.
