Turkey's Erdogan calls on Turkish women to bear at least three children

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a speech on Thursday in Istanbul whereby he called on Turkish women to have at least three children.

"As a Prime Minister, I am entitled to advice women in Turkey to bear at least three children. We have not brought out a legal obligation for this, it is optional," Erdogan said while addressing supporters of his Justice and Development Party.

Erdoğan has frequently voiced his concern over the declining younger population in Turkey and even suggested that his government may consider giving a “reward” to families that have at least three children.

This as comments posted on social media networks denounced Erdogan's remarks, accusing him of interfering in the people's lifestyle.
