Al-Qaeda plans new attacks on Europe’s railways

German newspaper Bild quoted intelligence sources Monday as saying that al-Qaeda is plotting attacks on Europe's high-speed rail network.                

The daily added that the group could plant explosives on trains and tunnels or sabotage tracks and electrical cabling, revealing that the source of the information was the United States National Security Agency (NSA) which had wiretapped calls involving top al-Qaeda leaders.                

“The attacks on Europe's rail network was a "central topic" of this call,” Bild reported.
