Church welcomes naked worshipers into congregation

A church in the US state of Virginia has taken a decision to allow people to attend services in the nude.  

The leader of White Tail Chapel in the town of Southampton, Pastor Allen Parker, said he decided to allow worshipers to come naked after concluding that the clothing requirements of other churches were overly 'pretentious'.  

He added that people should be free to forgo such materialism if they desire.  

Pastor Allen Parker said many of the most important moments in the Bible happened while the protagonists were nude, including Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.  

'When Jesus was born he was naked, when he was crucified he was naked and when he arose he left his clothes in the tomb and he was naked,' Parker told CNN.  

'If God made us that way, how can that be wrong?' he added. Although the said church gave worshipers the right to attend the services fully naked, many decided that they would rather continue to attend fully clothed.  

Parker added that the main idea behind nudity is reminding those gathered in the church that they are simple human beings and beneath their personal wealth they are all the same.   

It is worth noting that the pastor himself leads the church by example; he stands in his pulpit without a scrap of clothing as he reads stories from the Bible to the worshipers gathered in the small church.
