Father kills 11-year-old child with cricket bat
An 11-year-old child was killed by his father at a cricket training session in front of horrified bystanders, including children.

Greg Batty, 54, used a cricket bat to batter his only child to death following a training session in suburban Australia. Shortly before he died, Luke Batty asked his British mother for extra time to practice with his father.

Greg Batty, who was mentally ill, bowled several deliveries to his son at a suburban oval in Melbourne and then used a cricket bat to kill his son before being shot dead by police.

"It was just a little cricket practice, onlookers were at the scene, I believed he was safe," the child's mother Rosie Batty, 52, said.
