Little girl's vision saved as Facebook users identify rare disease

A mother who posted a photo of her 3-year-old daughter on Facebook got more than just a few likes after users spotted something in Rylee's left eye that helped identify a rare disease.

Two friends, browsing randomly through the site, saw the image in which Rylee’s left eye was glowing.

Other people would have said it was merely an effect of the camera’s flash, but luckily, these eagle-eyed friends knew something was wrong.

“They said: ‘Hey, I’m sure it’s nothing. It’s probably the lighting, but your daughter’s eye is glowing and you might want to have it checked out because it’s a sign there could be an issue with her eye,’” the mother Tara Taylor told Memphis news outlet WREG.

Rylee was diagnosed with Coats’ disease, a rare condition that can cause blindness or loss of vision. These results can be avoided should the condition be caught early.

In this case, sharing turned into caring to help save a little girl’s vision.
