Army veteran says computers are his 'preferred sexual object', wants to marry Macbook

An army veteran, identified as Chris Sevier, has challenged a court decision denying him the right to marry his laptop in a strange case that resembles the plot of the Oscar-winning film Her.

Sevier has filed a motion to the 10th US Circuit Court of Appeal stating that if same-sex couples are entitled to wed, he must be able to marry his Macbook.

He also claimed that computers are his 'preferred sexual object', noting that he enjoys sex with the machines more than with 'real women'.

Sevier tried to marry the device, which he says is loaded with porn, but the licence was rejected by Utah officials on the backdrop of 'sexual orientation'.

The file loosely resembles Her, a Spike Jonze film whereby the protagonist, played by Joaquin Phoenix, falls in love with his operating system.

"They discriminated against me when they rejected my request to marry my computer," Sevier said in the 50-page motion he filed.

The army veteran said he approached the Utah clerk to obtain a marriage license for him and his machine-spouse, adding that the clerk denied his request.
