Italian priests and Canadian nun released in Cameroon - minister
Two Italian priests and a Canadian nun kidnapped in northern Cameroon in early April by suspected Boko Haram gunmen have been released, Cameroon's communications minister said.
  
"I confirm the release of the two priests and the nun abducted a few weeks ago. They are in good health. They are now in a plane heading to Yaounde," Communications Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary told Reuters by phone.

On another note, Cameroon security forces killed some 40 Boko Haram militants  in clashes in the country's far north, state radio
  
A presidency source confirmed the clashes, which took place west of the town of Kousseri, in the region bordering Nigeria and Chad.

Cameroon, which has been criticized by Nigeria for not doing enough to fight the Nigeria-based Boko Haram, deployed some 1,000 troops to the far north this week as it steps up the fight against the Islamist militants.
