Freed war prisoner Bergdahl expected back in U.S. on Friday -official
U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, held five years as a Taliban prisoner of war before being released on May 31, will return to the United States on Friday after receiving care at a military hospital in Germany, a senior defense official said on Thursday.        

Bergdahl, released in a prisoner swap for five Taliban leaders held at Guantanamo, was expected to be sent to a military hospital in San Antonio for further treatment. His release sparked a political uproar because the administration did not notify Congress beforehand.
