People push train together, rescue trapped man

A number of passengers, along with staff at Stirling station used their power on Wednesday to rescue a man who became trapped between the platform and a train at a Perth station in Australia.

The passengers and the staff managed to tilt the carriage so the man could free his leg which was wedged in the gap.

At 8:50 am, the man was boarding a Perth-bound train when he slipped and became stuck.

Transperth spokesman David Hynes said the man was boarding at the tail end of peak hour, but the train was still fairly busy.

Hynes added that of the passenger’s leg slipped outside the door of the train and got stuck.

"We alerted the driver, and made sure the train didn't move,” Hynes said, emphasizing that the all passengers used their power to tilt the train backwards away from the platform to rescue him.

Hynes also noted that the problem was not caused by overcrowding, adding that the man did not sustain serious injuries.
