Thousands hope for glimpse of Pope on way to airbase
Pope Francis left the Philippines, Asia's largest Catholic nation, on Monday, after a week-long trip to the region that included a visit to Sri Lanka.

Thousands of cheering people lined the streets of Manila one more time to try to see Pope Francis as his motorcade travelled to Villamor Air Base for his flight back to Rome.

Standing in his popemobile, the Pope waved to the crowd as his vehicle moved fairly rapidly through the cleared streets on a sunny morning.

The Pope's final Mass of the trip, held at a park in Manila on Sunday, drew a record crowd of six (m) million, according to Filipino officials, despite stormy weather.
